Programs & Services: Workshops & Seminars

Career Transition For Dancers has developed and implemented a successful series of workshops and seminars known as Career Conversations. These presentations are designed to introduce dancers to a variety of career options and elaborate on key steps in the transition process. Offered in New York City and Los Angeles, Career Conversations broaden dancers' knowledge of the vast array of career paths, opportunities, and resources available in their transition process. All sessions include an interactive discussion component involving guest speakers, as well as former and current CTFD clients.

These workshops examine the key components of the career change process. The sessions provide basic tools for making a successful transition, including understanding the emotional side of career change; defining the interests, skills, and values; identifying transferable skills; as well as researching new career options; and connecting with resources for career exploration. Individual career counseling sessions discuss dealing with change and staying motivated in the transition process.

The workshops will be facilitated by either: Lauren Gordon, Suzie Jary or Paulette Fried - Career Counselors from New York City and Los Angeles. They will present an orientation on the various CTFD counseling services and scholarship programs.

CTFD extends it sincere thanks for the facilities courtesy of the respective dance companies; and in particular to the generous grants from the Bossak/Heilbron Charitable Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Sponsored by Dance Magazine.

(If you know of a career or transition-related event that you think might be of benefit to dancers, please email us at info@careertransition.org with the contact information and we will follow-up.)
